FHSAA high school football playoff brackets Week 10. Major changes after forfeits

Two schools forfeiting games because of ineligible players meant major changes in the latest FHSAA power rankings.

American Heritage moved up to the No. 1 overall team in Class 4A after Norland had to forfeit its 33-27 win against the Patriots on Oct. 14. American Heritage also improves to 6-3 and wins the District 15-4A championship as a result.

West Boca jumps up to No. 3 in Class 6A, the top overall seed in Region 2-6A and improves to 8-0 after Western had to forfeit wins against the Bulls and Goleman. Western drops to 3-6 and is now the No. 8 seed in Region 4-7A.

The FHSAA confirmed the forfeits in an email to the USA Today Florida Network on Tuesday.

Nease remains the No. 1 overall team in the state, followed by Venice, The First Academy, Cardinal Newman and Lakeland.

Venice (Class 7A), Nease (6A), Lakeland (5A), Miami Central (3A), Gadsden County (2A), The First Academy (1A) and Union County (Rural) are the top teams in their respective classes.
