E-scooter rider killed in hit-and-run crash near Aberdeen

A man was killed early Monday in a hit-and-run crash in Harford County, according to Maryland State Police.

Adam Matthew Lingenfelter, 43, of Aberdeen, died at the scene of the crash on westbound U.S. Route 40 near Oakington Road near Aberdeen, state police said.

According to a preliminary investigation, Lingenfelter was riding an electric scooter on the shoulder of the westbound lanes around 6:50 a.m. when a vehicle struck him.

State police said authorities believe a 2017-18 Hyundai Elantra may be involved in the hit-and-run.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police.
