The annual celebration of everyone's favorite mustachio'd plumber, Super Mario, is right around the corner, and Nintendo is set to celebrate Mario Day with special deals, events, and even a massive Mario Kart tournament. Many official events are endorsed by Nintendo, although it is always recommended to check with a friendly local game store, as many will hold smaller-scale local events to recognize the day on or around March 10, 2024.

Aside from the officially announced events and deals for Mario Day, there are also many rumors circulating regarding new game reveals and more. In the past, reveals have been made on March 10 for a variety of Mario-themed games, items, and clothing, and that will likely happen again. In the meantime, there have been some confirmed deals and celebrations for fans to keep an eye on, and in some cases, the party has already begun.

The Nintendo Switch has no shortage of titles from the Mario franchise, including ports of previous games. However, which among them is the best?

Mario Day is recognized every year on March 10. The date has become a fun holiday celebrating the Super Mario franchise, although it is not specifically an anniversary of anything. Rather, it is a whimsical play on the date March 10, as when it is written in a simplified way to MAR10, it looks like "MARIO" and creates a perfect excuse for a party.

Nintendo's mascot character, Mario, has been around since 1981's Donkey Kong​​​​​​, and during that time has appeared in around 200 games, many of which he was the leading protagonist. Mario Day has been a chance for Nintendo and Super Mario fans around the world to celebrate ever since Nintendo officially declared the holiday in 2016, although many had been recognizing it before that year.

On Mario Day, March 10, 2024, from 12:00pm to 6:00pm PT there will be an official Nintendo-sponsored Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Open March 2024 tournament. As a not-so-subtle nod to the date, the 310 top players will be awarded 1,000 My Nintendo Gold Points to their online accounts. In order to enter the tournament, racers must play during the specified time and use the Tournament Code: 3409-7365-4571. Full details are available on the Nintendo website.

To celebrate Mario Day, Nintendo is hosting a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tournament with a small monetary prize for particularly skilled players.

Always check local stores for events as well. Many smaller, locally-owned businesses will be holding their own celebrations and sales in honor of Mario Day.

The 2024 Mario Vs. Donkey Kong remake adds so many updated features to an already incredible game, making this puzzle platform game a joy to play.

At the time of writing, the full list of MAR10 Day online sales has not been provided yet. On the My Nintendo Store there will be sales starting on March 7, 2024, and running through March 17 on many of the digital games that feature Mario and his friends.

Additionally, as part of the MAR10 Day specials, Nintendo is doubling its Nintendo Switch Online Free Trial Membership from 7 days to 14 days. Even if someone has previously claimed a Nintendo Switch Online free trial, they will still be able to claim it again for this event, so everyone can enjoy playing classic Mario titles for the holiday. This promotion is already available and can be claimed on the My Nintendo website.

Two official sweepstakes are currently being held for Mario Day 2024. These are in conjunction with the My Nintendo service and require using up to 30 My Nintendo Platinum Points to enter each of the sweepstakes.
